MCU History

Member focused service, since 1954

Members Credit Union (MCU) has a long history of personal service. Founded by seven employees of Santa Fe Railroad in 1954 as the Santa Fe Employees Credit Union, MCU grew and moved to 827 North Main in Cleburne, Texas in 1960.

In the late 80’s when the Santa Fe operations moved from Cleburne, MCU expanded by offering membership to anyone working or living in Johnson County including family members such as parents, children, brothers and sisters. To reflect this change, the name was changed to Johnson County Community Credit Union.

In 1995, MCU changed its name to Members Credit Union. The new name was chosen to help convey that MCU is member owned and once you become a member you may remain a member for life, no matter where you live or work.

In 2001, MCU added Hood County to its field of membership. So anyone that lives or works in Hood or Johnson County is eligible to join MCU.

In 2006, MCU opened a second branch facility in Burleson to serve our growing membership base.

In 2015, our new main office opened on Nolan River Road in Cleburne.
